The Cesena ’01 girls participated in the VA Beach Sun Cup last weekend (August 22nd-23rd) as they wrapped up their fall 2015 pre-season commitments. These talented ladies won the tournament championship 1-0 over NVSC and will now focus on a three week recovery and training period in preparation for their WAGS League season set to begin in September.
The Cesena ’01 girls have been accepted to participate in one of the regions premier tournaments; the CASL Girls Shootout to be held on November 8th and 9th in Raleigh, North Carolina. The CASL Tournament is a premier level tournament for competitive teams from only the top clubs. The CASL Girls Shootout has been a staple in tournament destinations for many years and they expect close to 200 elite teams to participate this fall. ODFC Cesena joins other premier, developmentally focused clubs this year including; McLean Soccer, Braddock Road (BRYC), Baltimore Bays and the Richmond Strickers.
Congratulations to all our young ladies for having earned this opportunity to participate in this high-level event!
In the VA Cup, the Cesena ’01 girls played strong against elite clubs from around the state. Games were played on fields in Richmond and Williamsburg as players had to cope with 90+ degrees temperatures and high humidity. These strong young ladies competed in the highest division finishing the weekend with 2 draws,1 win and 1 loss.
It was a great start for all our wonderful teams as they now look ahead to the start of league play this coming weekend (September 6-7).
